- Pass the second grade. Teacher mentions I need improvement on my handwriting.

- Compete in first swimming race.
- Race takes place at the same swimming pool where parents met in 1967.

- Watch Star Wars on our first VHS tape player. Repeat. Repeat.
- Sister, who also watches, is able to lip sync the entire movie.

- Get driver’s license.
- Get first speeding ticket.

- Hired for first job, Lifeguarding. It sounds cool, but it's boring.

- Qualify for Washington State swimming championships, ranked in first place going into finals.
- Shave head (and body), take third place. Hair takes awhile to grow back.

- Enroll at Pomona College. College is fun.

- Begin semester abroad in Athens, Greece. College in another country is really fun.

- Hired as manager of Innis Arden Swim Club. Have to fire an employee for blowing up his neighbor's truck.

- Academic advisor, and founder of my college major (Media Studies) Prof. Brian Stonehill, dies suddenly.

5/1999 |
- Graduate from college in Media Studies.

- Leave for 1 month trip to SE Asia. Being in another country without having to go to college is really really fun.

- Return from SE Asia 6 months later. Really broke.
- Move into house with friends in Berkeley, get temp job at Petopia.com

- Hired at advertising start-up, Flycast Communications.
- 70-person Flycast, purchased by CMGi for a lot of money. I don't get any of it. People who do buy houses and jets.

- Enroll and complete the Landmark Forum

- Get on airplane headed for Seattle with a stop-off in Reno and meet two girls on the plane who invite me to get off the plane in Reno and come with them to Burning Man.
- Attend Burning Man for the first time. Turns out to be really really really fun.

- Begin work at struggling start-up advertising firm, Tribal Fusion.

- Join San Francisco Men’s Circle. One'a the best things I ever did

- Solo trip to Costa Rica. Got all my stuff robbed. Surf a lot.
